 Here is a very simple article on neural networks for beginners - while fairly generic, for those of you that really don't know what NNs are, it should provide a good introduction to the field. Some people might be annoyed at the claim that "...At the moment, the application of AI is limited to such things as space robotics and handwriting recognition..." which seems to sell AI a little short to me.
