Links I'm in a the process of converting about 5-6 new articles for Generation5. While I greatly appreciate all entries submitted to Generation5, can I please stress that you do not use Microsoft Word to create your HTML - I'd rather have the Word file itself. Anyway, moan over, here are your weekly links! :)

Links Although the title is a little inaccurate, I am hoping to get back into the swing of things and have a bi-weekly update. I have had a flurry of article submissions since closing the AIBO competition, strangely - I'll try and get all these submissions up ASAP.

Anyway, here are your links for the week:

03/11/2004 20:24:31 PaPeRo, Joking programs and a large Generation5 Update
Posted by James Matthews
Links I have uploaded a large number of articles today, many of which came from the evidently talented Casey Chesnut. See What's New? for more.

Today's articles:

  • My baby bot - Nice to see that the $10-million PaPeRo project isn't dead.
  • A Great Listener - A short Technology Review article about an intelligent surveillance system that listens for particular sounds (gun shots etc.). The software is modelled on the brain's auditory system.
  • Organised chaos gets robots going - Using chaos, Todai scientists have devised a successful simulation of a 12-legged machine that can navigate complex environments with ease. I'd love to see a real robot with this system in place.
  • Only when I laugh - A somewhat interesting article about a program that learns and creates its own jokes.
