CFP: AI Game Programming Wisdom 3
Posted by James Matthews
|
|
Once again Charles River Media and series editor Steve Rabin are
looking for game developers to share their wisdom in the next brand
new volume of the groundbreaking AI Game Programming Wisdom series.
Anything that an AI game programmer would typically deal with is fair
game, including pathfinding, animation control, scripting, learning,
and various decision-making techniques. Selected authors will have
several months to write and will share in a portion of the book's
royalties. Proposals for 8-20 page articles are now being accepted
until June 1st at www.aiwisdom.com.

Happy New Year
Posted by James Matthews
|
|
Just a short post to wish you all a happy new year. I'm hoping 2005 will be as successful as 2004 for Generation5, with more new articles, competitions and interviews to come. Our AIBO competition is now very close to hitting its target number of submissions -- meaning some lucky winner will have their own AIBO soon. Keep those submissions coming.
I'm also hoping this year will seen the 1.0 release of the Generation5 JDK and it's proliferation within AI communities.
As always, Generation5 is a community site and as such I am always wanting feedback and suggestions.

documentation that speaks to the debate over the capabilities of spiking
neural nets and lots more source code to download including C++ and Java
implementations of spiking neural nets, evolutionary algorithms and
distributed computing. You can even get the source for NeuroInvaders!

W32/MyDoom-A Warning
Posted by James Matthews
|
|
Not AI, but I feel I have to announce this. I received 150+ bounced e-mails overnight (and they're still coming in) from the W32/MyDoom-A virus after it falsified the originator's address as being from Generation5.
As a webmaster I feel I have the duty to urge you all, get updated, browse carefully and intelligently and, if necessary, get an anti-virus program. Those of you without an anti-virus program (but with MSIE) can use Trend Micro's HouseCall.
Update: 350 instances of the virus and counting in my mailbox. It seems the virus is aimed at SCO, as this Wired article points out.
