.: My Setup :.

While my friends will give me a huge amount of grief for this, the geek in me wants to write about my current setup. Currently (17/4/03), my primary system consists of:

  • Windows XP Pro
  • Micron Millenia Max Intel P3-933
  • 512Mb RAM, 120Gb (80/40) HDD. DVD, CD-RW, Zip250 drives.
  • Triple monitor setup: 1 x Trinitron 21", 1 x 17", 1 x 28" Toshiba Widescreen TV!
  • ATI Radeon 7000: 64Mb DDR V-RAM, Dual-headed, with S-VHS output (used for widescreen)
  • S3 Virge 8Mb PCI: Used for secondary monitor.
  • Hauppauge TV Card, Ethernet, Fax/Modem, Creative SBLive!, Canon N605 scanner, Fujifilm 40i digital camera, HP960 printer, Altec Lansing 5-set sound system.
Nothing top-of-the-range, but it works beautifully. Additionally, I have PS2Linux installed on my PAL PlayStation2. Finally, I use an Orange SPV Smartphone as my mobile phone, and an old Cassiopeia E-105 as a development PDA.

The main computer, PS2Linux, XBOX, and additional computers in the house are all connected via a D-Link router. Various intranet features are available (including Trinity), all running off my primary computer using IIS 5.1.

My room is controlled via a variety of X-10 devices (courtesy of Generation5 review units) allowing for lights to be automatically turning on and off, as well as dimmed either by remote control, speech recognition, even via my mobile phone. All my Home Automation is controlled by the fantastic Homeseer.
