Real-time Sobel Edge Detection with a QuickCam

This program demonstrates how even fairly complicated algorithms can be performed quickly enough to ensure real-time performance. I wrote this test program in 15 minutes, using code from Image Analysis Explorer Pro and just adapted it for the QuickCam SDK.

The picture below shows me holding my guitar. You can see how the frets and "Ibanez" logo stand out clearly. Surprisingly, the edges are much more distinct when viewed in motion than in snapshots.
